The Benevolence Ministry of High Point Church of Christ exists to demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ by providing short-term financial and practical assistance to members of our congregation and individuals in the High Point community who are experiencing genuine hardship. Our goal is to meet immediate needs while encouraging spiritual growth, personal responsibility, and long-term stability.
As Scripture teaches:
"So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith." — Galatians 6:10
The High Point Church of Christ seeks to follow the example of the early church, where believers willingly shared their resources so that no member was left in need (Acts 2:44–45; Acts 4:32–37). Benevolence is an essential part of the church's work and reflects Christ's command to love our neighbors through compassionate service.
While we are called to be generous, we also recognize our responsibility to be faithful stewards of the resources God has entrusted to the church (Matthew 24:45–51; Matthew 25:14–30). Every request is prayerfully considered with both compassion and accountability.
The purpose of the Benevolence Ministry is to provide temporary assistance for essential needs such as:
Requests from both church members and members of the community are reviewed individually. Assistance may include financial aid, material support, spiritual encouragement, referrals to community resources, or a combination of these services, depending on the circumstances and available resources.
Priority is given to members of the High Point Church of Christ congregation, while we also strive to serve others in our community as opportunities and resources allow.
Every request is evaluated prayerfully and confidentially by the Benevolence Team. Assistance is determined on a case-by-case basis, taking into consideration the individual's circumstances, available church resources, and biblical principles.
Consistent with 1 Timothy 5:3–16, individuals seeking assistance should first seek help from family members or other available resources when appropriate, so that the church may best serve those who are truly in need.
The High Point Church of Christ reserves the right to approve, modify, or deny any request based on the specific circumstances presented.
We provide short-term financial assistance to baptized members experiencing unexpected emergencies or crises. Assistance may include help with utilities, housing, food, or other essential living expenses intended to address immediate needs.
Recognizing that some situations require ongoing support, we connect individuals with trusted local agencies and organizations that provide long-term assistance, including food assistance, housing resources, utility relief, employment services, and other community programs.
Whenever appropriate, we encourage individuals to pursue financial education and counseling. We can connect members with organizations that provide budgeting assistance, debt management, financial planning, and other resources designed to promote lasting financial stability. As Proverbs 22:7 reminds us, wise stewardship and sound financial practices can help individuals avoid future hardship.
Our desire is not only to meet physical needs but also to minister to the whole person through prayer, encouragement, and the love of Christ. Every request is treated with dignity, confidentiality, and compassion as we seek to glorify God by serving others.
We pray that through this ministry, God's grace will be demonstrated in both practical assistance and spiritual encouragement, strengthening the body of Christ and sharing His love with our community.
